“Solidarity committees in Support of workers in Iran- Abroad”

Who we are?

The Solidarity Committees in Support of workers in Iran – Abroad (Solidarity Committees Abroad), were formed 5 years ago as an outcome of a new uprising in the working class movement in Iran. They are active in more than 10 countries worldwide. The formation of The Syndicate of Workers of Tehran & Suburbs Bus Company, the Syndicate of Workers of Haft Tapeh, the Syndicates of Painters, Tire and Rubber Industries and Auto Makers in Iran was the encouraging point for worker activist abroad.

Moreover, the formation of “The Coordinating Committee to Help Form Workers’ Organizations” and “The Committee to Pursue Founding of Free Workers’ Organizations”,  have made us more determined in our march towards workers' self-emancipation.

Our main goal is to defend their demands and to gain the international support for their struggles against the Islamic Regime and its institutions such as Islamic Labour Party, Islamic Labour Councils, and the Islamic Workers’ House.

The main characteristic of these solidarity committees is the high cooperation among different tendencies in the labour movement. The   committees’ autonomy is guaranteed in their decision making, their active participation in the local struggles and their formation in different cities and/or countries.  We have organized three general annual gatherings in the past three years in Germany and Sweden.

For the past 5 years we have been actively involved in organizing international campaigns in England, Germany, Australia, France, Sweden, USA, and Canada in defence of the leaders of the labour movement in Iran, including our successful campaign for freedom of Mahmoud Salehi, Ali Nejati, and our ongoing campaign for the freedom of Mansour Osanlo, Ebrahim Madadi, Khosrow Boukani, Reza Shahavi, Saeid Torabian, and other social movement’s activists. We had fund raising events to support workers’ organizations in Iran.

We believe in self-emancipation of the working class and have firm stand against any intervention by any imperialist state and their allies such as “The American Centre for International Labour Solidarity”, so called “Solidarity Centre”

We have also actively participated in supporting the struggles of workers in Turkey, Colombia, Mexico, and Gemany, as well as the trade unions and syndicates, the socialist and progressive parties in their struggles against the capitalists and their governments. We are a dominant part of the campaign to evict the Islamic Regime from ILO.

We, hereby, invite all labour organizations and progressive political parties to defend the struggles of working class in Iran, to support them to form their free and independent mass organisations and to gain their right to organize and right to strike.

The Solidarity Committees in Support of Workers in Iran – Abroad wish you achieve your goals in your conference and continue your support of the workers movement in Iran.
